As a documentary filmmaker, who also produces other media work for various clients, I bring a unique approach to documenting weddings. This is not the cheesy, over-stylized video with weak photography.

My work is an artful and honest documentation of your wedding day for all the drama and fun it really is. Editing is straightforward, but seems like there were cameras everywhere capturing all the right moments. I shoot and edit all my own work. Each wedding is approached uniquely and individually, unlike the ‘wedding video factories.”

I use all the natural sounds during editing. I can easily create a finished product in any way you prefer, including a more stylized format, too. At the wedding, I work quietly and as unobtrusively as possible. I steadily work hand-held with mobility, and with a minimum of artificial light. I am constantly looking for that which seems appropriate to capture on video and do it with an aesthetic sense of fine photography.

Your own ideas about what you want are encouraged. Your wedding is an unforgettable experience. This kind of documentation truly will be the best way to remember that day for many years to come.

• Alan Roth is a documentary filmmaker, based in New York City. When not working on his own documentary films, he works freelance on other's projects, as a producer, director, cameraperson or editor. He received a Master's degree in 'media studies' in 1999 from the New School University in New York City.

• His documentary Inside Out In The Open has been screened in over 12 cities around the U.S. and Europe. It is about the avant-garde jazz music--free jazz--that emerged in the early 1960s...and received great reviews!

• Most recently, he directed a series of dramatic soap-opera stories for a project funded by the National Institutes of Health and based out of Rutgers University. It is a campaign to address the issue of rising HIV transmission of urban women of color. (see: http://asymmetricpictures.com/produce.html)

• He has also produced work for the Independent Film Channel, PBS, New York Times Television, Northeastern University, and many others. He shot part of the past Food Network series Cooks Tour with chef Tony Bourdain. From a production for a national poetry organization to a fundraising video for a New York City church to a major law firm, and nearly a decade of documenting weddings, you're in experienced hands.
